Privacy Policy
How the official website of Manuel Landeta collects, uses, and protects your personal data — written plainly, and specific to this site.
1. Who we are
This website, manuellandeta.com, is the official site of Manuel Landeta (José Manuel Goenaga Jassan), Mexican actor and singer. It is operated by Manuel Landeta and his authorized representatives (in this policy, "we," "us," or "the team"). We are the data controller for the personal data described below.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@manuellandeta.com.
2. The short version
We collect an email address (and optionally a first name) only when you choose to give it to us through a form on this site. We use it to send you Manuel Landeta's official news, and for nothing else. We use Brevo to deliver those emails. We never sell, rent, or share your data. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data at any time.
3. What data we collect
We keep data collection deliberately minimal. Depending on how you interact with the site, we may collect:
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address, and your first name if you choose to provide it. We also record the fact and time of your consent (double opt-in confirmation) as proof that you asked to be contacted.
- Contact form: your name, email address, and the content of your message, so we can reply.
- Unsubscribe request: the email address you ask us to remove.
- Email engagement & technical data (via Brevo): when we send a newsletter, Brevo may record standard delivery metrics such as whether an email was delivered, opened, or clicked, along with technical information like an IP address and approximate location that is part of ordinary email processing. We use this only to understand, in aggregate, whether our emails are working — not to build detailed profiles.
We do not ask for, and this site does not require, sensitive personal data. Please do not send us sensitive information through the contact form.
4. Why we use your data, and our legal basis
Under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and comparable laws, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent — for sending you marketing/newsletter emails. You give this consent by ticking the opt-in box on the sign-up form and confirming through the double opt-in email. You may withdraw it at any time (see §8), which is as easy as clicking unsubscribe.
- Legitimate interest / taking steps at your request — for responding to a message you send us through the contact form. We store your message and details only to handle your enquiry.
We also comply with the principles behind CAN-SPAM: we identify who the email is from, we don't use deceptive subject lines, and every marketing email contains a working unsubscribe mechanism that we honor promptly.
5. What we send you — and what we don't
Newsletter emails are only about Manuel Landeta's official activity: theater and concert dates, television and film projects, public appearances, and official announcements. Typical frequency is roughly one to four emails per month, and often fewer.
We do not send daily promotions, and we do not send third-party advertising. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your email address or personal data with any third party for their own marketing. The only third party that processes your data is our email provider, Brevo, acting on our instructions (see §6).
6. Brevo, our email processor
We use Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), operated by Sendinblue SAS, as our email service provider and data processor. When you subscribe or contact us, your data is stored in our Brevo account and Brevo sends emails on our behalf. Brevo processes this data under our instructions and its own data-protection commitments.
- Newsletter sign-ups use Brevo's double opt-in: you must click a confirmation link before you receive anything.
- Unsubscribe and preference management are handled through Brevo's list tools, so opting out is immediate and reliable.
- You can review Brevo's own privacy practices at brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy.
Delivering email through Brevo may involve transferring data to servers in the European Union and other countries where Brevo operates, under appropriate safeguards.
7. How long we keep your data
- Newsletter subscribers: we keep your data for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we retain a minimal suppression record (your email in an unsubscribe list) so we don't accidentally email you again, and otherwise remove your data within a reasonable period.
- Contact messages: we keep correspondence only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up, then delete it.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your data ("right to erasure").
- Withdraw consent at any time — unsubscribing does exactly this for marketing emails.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Portability — receive a copy of the data you gave us in a usable format.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@manuellandeta.com or use the unsubscribe page for email removal. We'll respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. If you believe we've mishandled your data, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. Cookies and analytics
This website is intentionally lightweight. Its own pages do not set advertising or tracking cookies. We load web fonts from Google Fonts to render the site's typography; this involves a request to Google's servers when you load a page.
When a Brevo sign-up form is embedded, or when you interact with our emails, Brevo may use cookies or tracking pixels as part of standard email delivery and form functionality. If we add website analytics in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
10. Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data. Access credentials for our email platform are kept confidential, secured with two-factor authentication, and rotated when appropriate; no email-sending credentials are ever embedded in this website's public code. We collect only the data we need and limit who can access it.
11. Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if our tools or practices change. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes affecting how we use your data will be communicated clearly.
